Welcome to the Department of Quantity Surveying and Construction Management

Objectives of the Department:

• Development, by means of dynamic scientific education, of independent and critically thinking graduates who will be able to enter the leadership corps within the quantity surveying, building and construction management and real estate professions
• Broadening existing property, building and construction sciences and professional knowledge by means of basic and developmental research
• Rendering a service to society through the community education teaching and research
• Extension of science in all fields and at all levels in different ways
• Over the past few years, the Department has delivered significant contributions to the various professions and to the construction industry as a whole. The Department has also maintained statutory accreditation by the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP), the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP), and the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP). Internationally, the Department is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in the UK, and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), also in the UK.
