Short CV

D.Sc. (Zoology) from University of the Free State, 1971

Area of Expertise

Animal parasitology. Presently my focus is on ectoparasites of livestock and pet animals. I work together with colleague Leon Fourie in a strong research group with expertise on the biology, ecology and control of especially ticks, but also of various other ectoparasites. Previously I was involved in, and published on, polystomatid parasites (Monogenea, Polystomatidae) of anurans in South Africa. I still have a keen interest in these parasites and their hosts and I remain assiociated with colleague Louis du Preez, who now has the expertise in this field.
