Welcome to the Qwaqwa Campus
Nestled at the foot of the majestic Maloti-Drakensberg, the Qwaqwa Campus is home to cutting-edge engaged science, research, and innovation tailored to meet the needs of its surrounding community and beyond. We are home to the Afromontane Research Unit (ARU), a continental leader in African mountain research, meteorological weather stations on the Drakensberg, and ecotoxicology research, which is a first for the UFS. Also hosted on the campus, is the Centre for Global Change (CGC), which is working towards improving the livelihoods of communities in the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality, by identifying community challenges and addressing them through engaged research and projects that have societal impact.
