The Animal Research Ethics Committee (AREC) of the University of the Free State invites you to a formal animal research ethics training session.
This training session will focus on the new 2024 National Department of Health guidelines titled South African Ethics in Health Research: Principles, Processes and Structures, Third Edition.
According to these guidelines “it is expected that all REC members, REC administrators, researchers, and students who will undertake research with human participants, or that involves use of animals, will ensure they complete theoretical research ethics training.”
Proof of assessed animal research ethics training, not older than three years, is a compulsory requirement for all supervisors, researchers, staff, and students working with animals.
This training will include a formal assessment, together with a certificate of completion (valid for three years).
All supervisors, researchers, staff, and students who work with animals or are planning to work with animals are encouraged to attend this informative training session.
